Modulus stabilization via non-minimal coupling

چکیده

We propose a massless nonminimally coupled scalar field as a mechanism for stabilizing the size of the extradimension in the Randall-Sundrum I scenario. Without needing to introduce self interactions terms we obtain a potential for the modulus field that sets the size of the fifth dimension. The minumum of this potential yields appropriate values of the compactification scale for small values of the coupling ξ.

A note on dynamical stabilization of internal spaces in multidimensional cosmology

The possibility of dynamical stabilization of an internal space is investigated for a multidimensional cosmological model with minimal coupled scalar field as inflaton. It is shown that a successful dynamical compactification crucially depends on the type of interaction between the geometrical modulus field and the inflaton and its decay products. In the considered model a stable compactificati...

Moduli Stabilization in the Heterotic/IIB Discretuum

We consider supersymmetric compactifications of type IIB and weakly coupled heterotic string-theory in the presence of G resp. H-flux and various nonperturbative effects. We point out that non-perturbative effects change the Hodge structure of the allowed fluxes in type IIB significantly. In the heterotic case it is known that, in contrast to the potential read off from dimensional reduction, t...

Cosmological evolution in compactified Hořava-Witten theory induced by matter on the branes

The combined Einstein equations and scalar equation of motion in the Hořava-Witten scenario of the strongly coupled heterotic string compactified on a Calabi-Yau manifold are solved in the presence of additional matter densities on the branes. We take into account the universal Calabi-Yau modulus φ with potentials in the 5-d bulk and on the 3-branes, and allow for an arbitrary coupling of the a...

Some Aspects regarding Materials Used in Non-metallic Elements Construction of Elastic Couplings

This paper presents aspects regarding the construction of couplings with bolts using non-metallic elements, e.g. rubber, having different hardness, the elements involved in torque transmission, in this case elastic elements, having also different dimensions or forms, in the way to have a good elasticity and capacity of vibration absorbtion. In paper there are also presented: the construction of...

Linking Starobinsky-type inflation in no-scale supergravity to MSSM

A novel realization of the Starobinsky inflationary model within a moderate extension of the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) is presented. The proposed superpotential is uniquely determined by applying a continuous R and a Z2 discrete symmetry, whereas the Kähler potential is associated with a no-scale-type SU(54, 1)/ SU(54)×U(1)R×Z2 Kähler manifold. The inflaton is identified with...
